What is Catrafting? Catrafting, simply put, is an inflatable craft with two pontoons. The two pontoons are held together with an aluminum frame. The floor of a cataraft is unique, as it is made of mesh. This allows the waves to not only saturate the front and sides of the raft, but also the floor! A cataraft is a stable craft. The Alpine Team spent time 'researching' the cataraft with many, many happy 'test cases'. We found the caaraft to be an ideal craft for the big waters of the Kicking Horse, and a great compliment to our current fleet.
How do we sign up for catrafting? As this is a new product and as we need to fill the boat to a certain capacity for safety reasons, only groups of 8 or 16 people may sign up for the catraft. You can book the catraft online, however, you need to book out the entire catraft. This means when you are booking the cataraft online, you will receive the total cost of the raft. A group of 6 may book the catraft, but you will still need to pay for 8.
What trips are available in the Catraft and what is the cost? The Kicking Horse River Challenge, and the Ultimate Whitewater are available in the Catraft. The Cost is $10 above the regular cost of these trips. So, the Kicking Horse Challenge in the Catraft would be $159, and the Ultimate Whitewater in the Catraft would be $125.
Our Group is Larger than 16 people, and we want to go catarafting? At the moment we have 2 Catraft, so if you have a group of more than 16 that would like to Catraft, only 16 of you will be able to Catraft.
Catrafting is best suited to:
- Groups of 8-16 People. This is the ideal capacity of the Catraft
- First-time Rafters as well as experienced Rafters. Catrafters must be 16 years & up.
- Stags/Stagettes
- Corporate Groups
